There are loads of family-friendly activities on Oxford Street, perfect for kids and adults alike to keep busy during half term. From interactive art, skateboarding and mini golf to shopping and eating out, plan your perfect day out this October half term to keep everyone entertained!
1. FRAMELESS
Just in time for half term, FRAMELESS, the immersive art gallery located near Marble Arch, is inviting families to step inside the beloved world of The Colour Monster, as the iconic book is transformed into a fun and emotion filled immersive experience for the very first time! Kids will be transfixed as the story jumps off the pages into a colourful setting, with movement and sound brining elements to life.
2. Twist Museum
Boredom is guaranteed to be gone at the Twist Museum this half term as illusions, activities and magic shows entertain the kids! Get the whole family out of the house and give your brains a run-around with daily magic shows, mind-bending illusions, and a hands-on activity trail, there’s no shortage of fun, learning, and surprises. Magic shows, available to book as add-ons, will run daily from 14th–22nd February at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm, and 4:30 pm, offering the perfect chance for shared experiences that spark curiosity, imagination, and laughter.
3. Swinger West End
Oxford Street has a lot more to offer than simply shopping…did you know you can play a round of crazy golf and get competitive whilst playing old-school arcade games? Well Swingers West End has all of this as well as delicious street food from some of the best restaurants around, including Pizza Pilgrims, Breddos Tacos and Patty&Bun – a great way to while away an afternoon! And the best news? From 22 February onwards, extended family sessions are here to stay! Competitive fun for the whole family, Sunday-Friday before 6pm, all year round!
4. Outernet
Start your day off Outernet, an interactive art installation above Tottenham Court Road tube station. A free activity that is guaranteed to bring wonder and amazement to your kids faces. While away half an hour as they head back in time as part of Back to the Future, or have fun at the Emoji Shower and spot your favourite expressions – shows typically last up to 10 minutes and are suitable for all ages.
5. Skate at Selfridges
Did you know there’s a place where kids can learn to skate right in central London? Tucked away on the first floor of Selfridges is an enclosed skate bowl catering to intermediate and advanced boarders. Book a one-on-one skate lesson (£20 per hour) for your intermediate skateboarder wanting to up their skills. More advanced boarders can enjoy a free open skate session.
6. An afternoon tea with a twist
Tuck into this fun-filled afternoon tea – the Alice in Wonderland theme makes this a big hit with kids! From delicate finger sandwiches, to innovative sweet treats – the afternoon tea at the Sanderson hotel is a treat for the whole family. Kids will be amazed by the decoration and bursts of flavour, while adults can sip on champagne.
7. The Cinema at Selfridges
A classic family activity, the cinema is always a winner (especially if the weather isn’t playing ball). Head to the basement in Selfridges and you’ll find The Cinema. With luxurious velvet lined chairs, superior snacks and drinks, keep the kids entertained with a new release this half term and book tickets to see Zootropolis 2.
8. Design your own donut at Lena Lu
A sweet treat always goes down well with kids and to truly treat them there is no better place than Lena Lu at Primark Marble Arch. The kids can get stuck in and create their own masterpiece at the personalisation station. First up select the base, a fluffy ring donut or one that you can fill, then onto the fillings – choose from jam, hazelnut or cookies & cream. Next add soft serve or head to the chocolate tap (a kid’s idea of heaven!) and finally add the final touches toppings.
9. Take a culinary trip around the world
Head to Market Halls and treat the kids to a taste of international cuisine. From Japanese, Malaysian, Mexican and so much more, tuck into delicious dishes that are crowd pleasers for the whole family. Perfect as a pit stop whilst out shopping or exploring the West End, Market Halls is great for families this half term.
10. The Disney Store
Let the kids’ imaginations run free at the Disney Store on Oxford Street. From Cinderella to Star Wars, children and adults alike can enjoy the wonderful world of Disney through endless toys, costumes and merchandise spread across multiple floors. As the Disney flagship store, this is a must-visit for your family-friendly adventure.
