Starting to plan your wardrobe for your next holiday? You’ve come to the right place. While we are all for following current fashion trends, here we’ve focused on the capsule pieces that you’ll be able to wear for summer holidays to come. Time to add these eight holiday fashion items to your shopping list now.

The slip dress
The slip dress transcends trends and has been a summer staple for women around the world since it first shot to fame in the 90s, championed by fashion icons like Kate Moss and Caroline Bessette Kennedy. For Spring/Summer 2026, the slip dress is re-imagined in floaty fabrics and subtle prints, but if you’d rather go classic, a monochrome satin dress is the way to go.
The flat sandals
Heels are officially out, and we’re secretly pleased – who wants to sink in the sand or twist an ankle on cobbles? Luckily, flat sandals have never been so chic, and there are myriad styles to choose from, including 90s-style flip flops (nope, the 90s trend isn’t going anywhere), jewelled flats, embroidered sandals, jelly shoes and more. What a way to be stylish and comfortable.
The flattering swimsuit
While a bikini will give you the best all-over tan (do tan sensibly by applying SPF50 regularly), a flattering swimsuit is the most versatile option by far. Why? Because if you choose a well-cut style, it’ll double up as a great outfit paired with some palazzo trousers or linen pants, and will look chic poolside with a pretty cover-up. Here are some styles we think you’ll love.
The pareo
David Beckham knows it: the sarong is the finishing touch your holiday outfit didn’t know it needed. While you may not want to emulate his iconic 90s look of throwing it over wide leg trousers, you might like to wrap it around the aforementioned swimsuit during the day, and to cinch a floaty dress come evening.
The fluid shorts
There will always be a place for denim cut-offs in your summer wardrobe, but if you’re looking for a slightly dressier option (perfect for lunch at a cafe or evening drinks), fluid shorts of the tailored variety are a great alternative. If you have long legs, try a bermuda-style length, and if you’re on the shorter side, try shorter silk shorts.
The throw-on shirt
If you don’t already own a shirt, be prepared to discover the top that will go with everything. A good shirt can work as a beach cover-up (over a swimsuit), a mini dress (cinched with a belt or silk scarf), a casual top (paired with jeans or linen trousers) and everything in between. For summer, we recommend a good quality poplin, linen or silk shirt, and it never hurts to go up a size or two for that elegant, oversized look.
The linen trousers
They may not be the most exciting item in the world, but we promise you, you’ll never regret buying a pair of linen trousers. They really do go with everything, from silk cami tips to crisp shirts and casual tank tops. If you’re after a truly timeless style, go for a wide leg, high-waisted pant in white, navy or black.
The cami top
Much like it’s more casual sister, the ribbed tank top, the cami top is the perfect go-with-everything staple. It’s slightly dressier, which means it can be worn for pretty much any occasion. For a casual affair, pair it with denim shorts, and for something smarter, a silk slip skirt. We love the lace-bordered styles that are timeless yet very trendy right now.
