Express yourself this summer at FRAMELESS

This summer, Oxford Street is more alive than ever, not just with shoppers and sunshine, but with the sound of spoken word echoing through masterpieces at FRAMELESS, an immersive art experience.

New to FRAMELESS, discover “Art of Expression”, a powerful new initiative in collaboration with George the Poet and the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU). Set inside the impressive digital galleries, this campaign gives iconic art a bold, modern voice – the voices of London’s young people.

Reframing the Masters through modern eyes

In a groundbreaking fusion of classic and contemporary, “Art of Expression” invites visitors to experience artworks like The Great Wave by Hokusai, The Scream by Munch, and Rembrandt’s Storm on the Sea of Galilee through newly written spoken word pieces. These powerful verses, created by George the Poet and young creatives from the VRU’s Young People’s Action Group, reimagine the emotional landscapes of these masterpieces, from fear and resilience to identity and hope, in a language that resonates today.

At the heart of the project is Reflection on the Thames by John Atkinson Grimshaw, reinterpreted by George the Poet in a moving piece that bridges historical London with the lived reality of people living here today.

Get involved

This summer, FRAMELESS invites young creatives to step into the world of art and poetry with a series of free weekly spoken word workshops. Taking place every Friday from 25 July, these 45-minute sessions are led by acclaimed spoken word artists and designed to help young people aged 8 and up explore visual art in a fresh, expressive way.

Hosted in the inspiring surroundings of the ‘Blank Canvas’ Gallery, the workshops offer a relaxed, drop-in format at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, and are free with a FRAMELESS ticket. This is the perfect way to spark creativity this summer holiday! Spaces are available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so be sure to turn up on time to avoid disappointment.

When and how to experience it

Spoken word performances can be enjoyed all summer long. Visitors can scan in-gallery QR codes to hear the original pieces in situ, adding a layer of storytelling to the already hypnotic art displays.

For the full experience, don’t miss FRAMELESS Lates — evening sessions (18+) where art, poetry, and atmosphere come together in unforgettable ways.
