Whilst our stores are temporarily closed as we follow government guidelines around Covid-19, Oxford Street is going to be bringing the holiday season to you at home. With the latest news, services and products from our incredible brands through our website and @oxfordstreetw1.
From Monday 2 November, Oxford Street is dressed for the festive season with its Christmas lights. This year Oxford Street’s Christmas lights will feature a special poem in created in partnership with Selfridges. To London with love is a heart-warming poem in tribute to all the amazing acts of kindness displayed up and down the country and across the world during the pandemic.
Special for 2020, our Christmas lights will shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes, those who have given selflessly to those most in need during the pandemic. Each week a UK hero will have their name in lights on Oxford Street for 7 days and YOU get to nominate your 2020 hero for their chance to be featured and recognised for their contribution. They’ll also win a £500 gift card for their favourite Oxford Street shop. Here’s how you can nominate your hero and give the gift of gratitude and help us spread love #our2020heroes campaign.
The first name in our Christmas lights is Anis Ali, a NHS Volunteer Responder, nominated by Royal Voluntary Service. NHS Volunteer Responders was set up at the start of the pandemic to complement the work done by NHS and social care staff in supporting those most at risk from the virus. Meet our 2020 heroes.
Due to social distancing, there is no events, however, don’t think this means we haven’t got a few surprises up our sleeves. Make sure you’re following us on Instagram and signed up for our newsletter to hear it first.
Our Heroes Charity T-shirt
We created this limited edition charity t-shirt to support raising funds for the Royal Voluntary Service, one of the largest volunteering organisations in Great Britain, providing vital, responsive services which support public health, social care and wellbeing.
In March 2020, NHS Volunteer Responders was set up at the start of the pandemic to complement the work done by NHS and social care staff in supporting those most at risk from the virus. The Responders include Community Response Volunteers who assist with food shopping and prescription collection for those shielding or self-isolating, Check-in and Chat Volunteers providing supportive phone calls to combat loneliness, and Patient Transport Volunteers ensuring people can get to medical appointments – all of whom have helped support the nation through the pandemic.
Help us reach our fundraising goal by purchasing your limited edition t-shirt. And, when you’ve made a purchase let us know by sharing it with us on social @oxfordstreetw1.
