You hear the gentle buzz of the bustle of people below, rushing about their daily lives. Luckily, you’re tucked away on a rooftop, stealing a hidden moment of utter bliss. We’ve painted quite the idyllic picture, no?

Is it even summer in the city if you’re not chilling on a rooftop with your pals, a fancy-fresh G&T in hand, and a panoramic view of London outstretched in front of you? Quite frankly, no, it isn’t.

So, we’ve compiled the fanciest, prettiest, most instagramable, gin-filled rooftops around Oxford Street. There might be a few terraces thrown in too.

Alto by San Carlo / Selfridges Rooftop

Selfridges, Oxford Street has recently opened its latest rooftop dining space, Alto.

The restaurant follows the partnership series that has made the Selfridges’ rooftop one of the hottest destinations in town. So now, it’s time to find yourself up there for a little down time.

Alto by San Carlo is lush with Italian charm. The rooftop is decked in gorgeous greenery and citrus trees. The alto rooftop has been built with a retractable roof! So, it is ideal for the unpredictable British summer weather. There’s a rather lovely alfresco sun terrace, where you can sip on cocktails, champagne, wine and soft drinks. All expertly crafted by the alto bartenders, of course.

The Gardening Society / John Lewis Rooftop

Experience a Summer of Sound with the brand new Gardening Society Rooftop at John Lewis. The terrace has been transformed to become a fun, lively hide-away above Oxford Street. So, if you’re looking for a place to experience something different, John Lewis is the place to head during your shopping stint.

Showcasing the best in audio technology that John Lewis has to offer, The Gardening Society has partnered with the biggest brands in sound to create a truly unique rooftop experience. ‘Escape from the city and enter a sonic soundscape in the sound studio, actually, there’s three studios, each created by renowned audio experts – Sonos, Ruark Audio, and Naim. All available to book for you and the gang. Not to mention you can simply eat, drink, and relax on the John Lewis Rooftop. Whatever you want, you decide.

Lovage Terrace / Aqua Kyoto

In celebration of the new limited edition savoury gin from Tanqueray, Aqua Kyoto have unveiled their new summer terrace. Another gorgeous pit-stop for you on your shopping spree! And then you can shop some more… As a matter of fact, we highly encourage it.

Complete with hanging foliage, a delicate floral display, and a tranquil water feature, the aqua kyoto terrace provides a peaceful retreat from the bustling crowds below. Set yourself up in a colourful lounge chair! Sip on a delicious Tanqueray Lovage cocktail (or two, or three). Because, after a day of carrying around your shopping bags, you definitely deserve it.

Courtyard Garden / Sanderson Hotel London

Escape into the captivating whimsical world that is The Sanderson’s private open-air Courtyard Garden. This iconic Courtyard Garden has been transformed! It is now a pink haven full of flamingos and floral accents.

Plus, the Instagram famous seated swing will become a throne for the Queen of Hearts, adorned with pink roses. Of course, it is perfect photo opportunity. With a heritage listed Courtyard Garden found just off Oxford Street – it’d be rude not to pay the flamingos a visit this summer.

Aqua Neuva

Aqua Neuva has had a vibrant make over as it opens The Colour Terrace with Veuve Clicquot.

The contemporary Spanish restaurant has partnered with iconic champagne label Veuve Clicquot to create a bright, bold and vibrant open air space to enjoy a toast to a beautiful summer’s day – and admire views of the London Eye.

While enjoying the views of the London skyline, guests to the aqua nueva terrace will have a choice of five colour inspired cocktails. These include, ‘Once Upon a Time Back Home’, a punchy mix of red pepper infused vermouth, Galliano L’Autentico, lemon juice, topped with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label. Alternatively, guests can sip ’Jordi’s Flower’, an eclectic combination of Johnny Walker Black, passionfruit, pomegranate, elderflower and lemon juice, topped with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label and garnished with edible flowers. Finally, guests can also try ‘Starting from the Roots’, a plant-inspired concoction of Belvedere, ginger and lemongrass, lime juice, Amaro di Angostura topped with ginger beer.

The Colour Terrace in partnership with Veuve Clicquot is open from 12pm – 1am, Monday to
Saturday and 12pm – 8pm on Sunday’s until the end of the summer. It can be found on the 5th floor of the 240 Regent Street restaurant.
