REVIEW: The Cinema at Selfridges

We have been lucky enough to visit and enjoy the uber luxurious and newly opened Cinema at Selfridges. Boasting a 70-seat main screen, a 59-seater and a 28-seater as well, this is undoubtedly the chicest place to watch a movie in the whole of London. Not only this, but it is also the first department store in the world to permanently accommodate a cinema. We are so excited that it’s here on Oxford Street!

When we arrived at the cinema from Duke Street (just off Oxford Street), we were completely taken back by the design and the sumptuous feel of the entrance hall and stairway down to the venue. Upon entering, we were pleasantly welcomed at the box office and handed our cinema tickets. We had around 30 minutes to spare before our movie began so we decided to take a seat in their gorgeous bar area and enjoy a couple of drinks and snacks. The drinks menu is vast and exudes elegance. From signature cocktails and mocktails to wines and spirits galore, there is certainly enough choice to tickle the pickiest of taste buds and quench their thirst.

We ordered two of the Margarita in Green which is one of their signature cocktails made up of Tequila, Cointreau, Fresh Lime Juice, Fresh Apple Juice, Agave Syrup, Manzana Verde, Basil Leaves, Avocado and Green Jalapeños. The cocktail came in the cutest little cactus glass (sure to be a hit with your Insta followers!) and we do not hesitate in saying that it tasted delicious. To accompany our cocktails, we ordered their Buttermilk Chicken with Sweet Chilli Mayo nibbles. These were so tasty and the make for the perfect sharer. With numerous vegetarian, vegan, fish and meat sharer dishes, you’re bound to find exactly what you’re fancying and much more.

It was almost time to head to our screening room so the waiter came over and handed us a basket to fill with any goodies and drinks that we wished to take inside. We ordered a bottle of their Mahi Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, 2018, New Zealand and they placed it in our basket. We then headed over to their Sweet Shop, (because what’s going to the cinema without any popcorn, am I right?) and picked up a sweet & salty bag of popcorn along with some chilli salted nuts and we made our way to the screening room.

Wow, just wow… our film was showing in the 59-seater room and we were amazed by the décor. The seats reclined, much to our delight, and each seat was equipped with a side table, perfect for holding your cinema goodies. The room was complete with state-of-the-art DOLBY ATMOS surround sound and latest projection technology; this made the whole experience hugely exciting.

Whether you have ever felt like catching a movie in the middle of running errands, you’re looking for the perfect date night spot, a place to hang out with friends or family or you’re a movie buff, this truly is the ultimate destination for all of the above. We’ve already booked our next trip!
