Men’s Trend Report for AW19

The days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder but all is not bad. Stores along Oxford Street are starting to release their AW19 collections for us all to enjoy and we couldn’t be more excited about it!

The AW19 menswear catwalk shows were full of comebacks and firsts. Scarves were long, coats were puffy and tailoring triumphed over tracksuits for the first time in four years. With you all in mind, we’ve picked out a number of the big trends that’ll be coming your way this Autumn/Winter (primarily to give you a chance to start saving your money now)! It’s never too early to begin searching for what’s in store for our wardrobes, surely?

Denim on denim is officially back..! There are very few things that have the ability to divide opinion quite like double denim, but we can’t get enough of this trend. From oversized denim jackets paired with oversized jeans, to neat little sixties-style denim jackets teamed with slim cut jeans, double denim in its purest form was everywhere. Dig deep into the back of your wardrobe and drag out those cheeky denim numbers that have been hiding.

Accessories and apparel come together this season as scarves of all textures, shapes and colours were trailing down the catwalks. With all the long puffers, duffels and trenches also being showcased on the runway, it only makes sense that you would need some proportional neckwear. A normal-sized scarf would just look silly, right? Adding that extra layer, texture, colour and pattern is enough to ensure your outfit stands out from the rest. Cosy, much to our excitement, is in.

Leopard print has shot up in popularity in womenswear over the last couple of seasons, and now it’s menswear’s turn. Leopard print has a very neutral pattern which compliments most skin tones and works well with the majority of other colours. This year, the runway leopard print appeared in all shades and motifs, brash and textured. Fancy giving this roaring trend a go? Pair your leopard print number with something bold and we’re sure you’ll turn heads!

Are you crazy about footwear? Well, this trend is incredibly easy to replicate in your wardrobe. Black boots are officially back. Anything from lace ups with big thick soles to chunky stomper styles and sophisticated Chelsea boots, this trend is versatile and easily absorbed.

This year, the catwalk saw the classic black suit styled in a variety of different ways. Both smart and casual looks were spotted among designers on the runway. All suits differed in style from double breasted and slim fit to more boxy and oversized, perfect for layering. We honestly believe anyone could rock this look. Très chic.

In previous seasons, the focus on the catwalk has been more about muted tones, however, highlighter hues is all the craze in AW19. There is no shying away when it comes to this trend as it is all about wearing multiple neon pieces at once. If you ask us, this trend will ensure that we’re all walking, talking and looking like a pack of pens. Brighten up the dull weather by radiating some colour this winter.
