Soho Grind is an espresso bar in the heart of Soho, with a basement cocktail bar hidden beneath Beak Street. Opened in 2014 as the second Grind, it's been a while since Soho Grind was the new kid on the block, and we don't really offer french lessons downstairs.
Okay so I only gave this place three stars because the long black tasted more like a filtered coffee than a real long black. Long black should be a small amount of water with a pull of espresso. However saying that I actually really enjoyed my visit. Service was super friendly and the atmosphere was amazing.
I visited this shop and in fact the chain for the first time. Rough, rusty looking ambiance but welcoming nonetheless. Is was relatively clean.
Staff appeared friendly and willing to help... Especially because I forgot to ask for single shot oat milk latte at the outset. When I realized there were no issues for them to change it.
I did not use the rest room so I cannot say how clean they might be.
All in all good experience, most likely not a 5* but well worth 4*.
Excellent coffee shop serving excellent pastries and cookies too. There are several grind shops now, this one has an industrial decor and is right next to carnaby street. There's additional seating downstairs plus 2 toilets, they also serve cold drinks also. Highly recommended and the best coffee shop in carnaby Street area in my opinion.
What I call French bathrooms, long and roomy with a pull handle gravity fed toilet! Clean and a e s t h e t i c. Very peaceful and the music leaks in softly. And of course if you need a help at giving it a go💩 they serve several aids upstairs, I prefer a straight espresso as it gets right to work.
As a note, I have a feeling if other people are in the washroom it may be a bit dodgy and add some stress to your dump. (I.e. girls were talking about their day planned ahead while I was marking the porcelain harbor.)
Oh also! Decent TP 👌
Unbelievably rude staff. We are here right now, it's a freezing cold day & they have the door wide open. We were shivering with thick jumpers on and asked if they'd mind us closing the door, but the girl said curtly with sarcastic attitude "NO THANKS", then turned away in a defiant manner. I repeated the question with a smile politely wondering if she'd misheard me, but she said with even more attitude:
"I said no thanks. Customers may be cold but behind the bar, I'm hot".
Then she ignored us.
Sometimes it's not what's said but how it's said. We wished we hadn't already paid for our coffee & considered leaving. There really is no excuse for such attitude in this day & age where there are so many great customer-oriehted coffee shops. Especially as the Internet is so transparent with reviews these days. We won't be back. In case it helps management, the staff was a young small girl with blonde-ish hair. Picture of her attached.
