Peru comes to London with LIMA, a new restaurant concept presenting Peruvian cuisine in a contemporary style. The exciting flavours created by Head Chef, Robert Ortiz and Virgilio Martinez (Executive Chef and ranked #4 in the World 50 Best List and #1 in in Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list) have won us many happy customers. And while our diners are most important, we have had many favourable reviews from critics and numerous industry awards.Lima Fitzrovia was first awarded a Michelin star in 2013 – the first and only Peruvian restaurant to achieve this.Lunch is served from 12pm - 2.30pm Tuesday to Sunday, dinner is served from 5.30pm - 10.45pm Monday to Saturday and from 5.30pm - 9pm on Sunday.
The whole experience felt pretty mediocre to be honest- the food was delicious, but not enough to ‘knock my socks off’, and for a bill that came out to over £135 for 2 of us I was certainly expecting something incredible from the Michelin star restaurant.
The dishes are all generally very small, we ordered about 6 dishes that left us still feeling hungry, and the dessert was the most disappointing at all (way too sweet and not very innovative). The cuisine is very similar to Chotto Matte, which is actually far better and all around a much more fantastic experience (cheaper, better ambience, better quality, variety, and quantity of food, etc...)
Our waitress was lovely which is why I’m giving the place three stars, but I really would not recommend this to anyone.
Peruvian inspired beautiful cooking. Lovely tastes and flavours. The wine list was very good. My only negative feedback was considering it wasn’t really busy the service was quite poor and it felt like we had the waitress looking over our head a lot.
I loved everything about this place. We had a set menu and everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Every dish was so pretty it was a shame to eat it! Service was excellent also and the food came out very quickly. If you are looking for superior standard food without the pretentious atmosphere of many other Michelin restaurants then this is the place for you.
If I had to rate only the food, I would have given 5 stars. But the quality of the service was deplorable, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t too busy at the time — like I read in another review. We constantly had to repeat multiple time our requests before we could have a simple glass of water.
The food was excellent but the experience overall was really disappointed, especially considering this is supposed to be a Michelin restaurant.
I had heard the food at Lima would be good, and I was not disappointed. My husband and I shared 3 starters and a main, which was plenty for us, and each dish was delicious. The ceviche in particular was outstanding. It's not cheap, but worth it, and we would go back. Good cocktails too!
