About us

Tom and Phil met in 2010 whilst working at a Brighton restaurant. Soon after, they bought a small marquee and decided to go it alone serving burgers at festivals and events. After meeting Dorian, Tom moved to Brixton in 2011 and within a few months they’d signed a lease on a tiny unit in Brixton Village. After lots of DIY, furniture making and decorating, the first Honest Burgers opened its doors. With a simple, quality-focused menu the company has not deviated from its original approach — to do one thing, and do it well.

This is one of the best burger restaurants I've been to. The menu is excellent, from a simple burger and chips to more elaborate toppings. I had the Mother Clucker special - buttermilk fried chicken burger with bacon and cheese which came with handmade rosemary fries. I heard one woman complain about the little bits of crispy potatoes in the dish but these were a highlight for me. The staff dealt with her very patiently and even provided a new portion of fries (very generous given the petty issue).

A lot of the food is gluten free. A real bonus was that they ask you how you want your beef burger cooked - a first for me and very welcome. The onion rings are huge (also gluten free) and I recommend the hot sauce.

The real high point is that you can order beef and bacon gravy which comes in a dish so you can dip your burger in it. If you have never tried this, do it, it's amazing.

They have local beers and soft drinks but no tea or coffee (a burger is better with beer anyway). The staff are very friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit if you're near Oxford Street.

Honest? There's nothing honest about the sky high prices. Just burgers with a huge markup. Let's face it, burgers hardly require an advanced degree in rocket science to make.

In my opinion prices should reflect the quality of the ingredients and the skill it requires to make...

Sorry for the rant ;)

Visited around 5 p.m. on a Monday and didn't have to wait to get seated. The Staff was friendly and fast with the Food and Drinks even though the Shop was nearly full. The Burgers were nice, big and juicy. The homemade Rosmarin Chips were really good too. As a side Dish we ordered Onion Rings which were also homemade and really big and plenty of them. Since we couldn't finish them all we asked if we could take them with us and the Staff quickly packed them for us. So overall I would give this a 5* Rating.

I have tried the Portobello branch and it was great. When I tried this branch, it's still unbelievably great. Excellent standard and quality control of the food, outstanding burger with nice chips and cool drinks. The staffs were also very helpful and friendly. Top quality of service.

Wow what a fantastic burger! The preparation of the meat and the taste are delicious! Bread and rosemary chips are the perfect company for meat! If you have the chance, try it!
