Blanchette Soho is a French bistro serving simple, classic and inventive French food. Its concept is based on the idea of sharing, from smaller snacks such as Croque Monsieur, Crispy frog’s legs, charcuterie and cheese, to larger traditional dishes with a Blanchette twist. A fine selection of drinks, including a variety of French wines and classic cocktails, are also available.Founded in 2013 by brothers Maxime, Malik and Yannis, the quintessentially Parisian restaurant is named after their mother. Maxime and Yannis have, between them, almost 30 years of experience in hospitality having worked in top restaurants across London, New York and Paris.Music also plays a big part at Blanchette, with Malik, founder of sound design company La Musique du Faubourg, providing the soundtrack to ensure a buzzing and convivial atmosphere.Private dining is available in The Jungle Room, Blanchette's dedicated space for private parties. It accomodates up to 14 people and it features a stunning hand-painted rain forest themed mural by artist Aldo Gigli.
First time I'd had French tapas and it won't be the last. In the heart of Soho, two minutes off Oxford Street, it's fairly reasonably priced for top class food (an average of £9 for a meat/fish based dish, £6 average for a veg dish - recommended getting three or four dishes between two to share). I'd recommend booking if you want a table during the evening - counter seats (with less room for tapas plates) were available at peak time though.
I got the lamb (pictured), duck (also pictured) and green veg salad. All I'd highly recommend - all perfectly seasoned and exactly the texture I hoped for.
Beyond the food, the decor, music and service were exceptional too. All-in-all, little to complain about - well worth a visit.
I was disappointed in this place. Poorly prepared dishes with either too much salt or oil. The fried from leg is nice but everything else was average. I wasn't impressed with the food at all. The service was fast. I don't understand the lines that may form.
Fantastic ambiance, but found the food to be pricey (small portion sizes). Tomme de Corse cheese plate was excellent. Service was a little slow considering the restaurant was not full. Easy to obtain a reservation on the day of for Sunday evening.
One of the best restaurants I've eaten in London - definitely my favourite at the moment. I wish I could give an extra star... All the tapas were unbelievable. Every plate was refined in a way that you usually find in more upscale restaurants, but the cooking was bolder and the taste punchier and with more character. The end result for me was far better than quite a few restaurants at twice the price. The only plate that was very good - but not at the same level - was the grilled chicken. The tables are bit too close to each other - we sat at a table in the middle and the place was quite noisy. After the first tapas arrived, I wasn't really paying attention to the surroundings. Prices are at the London mid-range restaurant level. Highly recommended.
Fell in love with the restaurant, food was really delicious and reasonably priced. Everything was done in such a sweet way, the bread being served in a brown paper bag, i died! so sweet!
Attention to detail with the dishes, presentation and decor really makes this restaurant special.
