Living by the philosophy that too much of a good thing is a good thing, the best planis no plan and that the pursuit of pleasure is a noble one, Balans Soho Soceity is a late night drinking and all night eating destination. Bringings its bohemian spirit to London, creating a café, restaurant, bar and member’s establishment where normal rules don’t apply. Reflecting the eccentric ethos of Soho, Balans Soho Society is a refuge for bon vivants, dreamers and anyone who embraces the indulgent side of life.Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and morale boosting cocktails.
Large, cool cafe with a lively atmosphere, friendly staff, good coffee, and reasonably priced (for London) lunch options that are very tasty. Popular with the gay crowd (it is Old Compton Street, after all), but the clientele is broadly mixed and easy-going. Always nice to come back to.
Trades way to much on its pink pound credentials ... food is good quality but a little pricey for what you get. Some of the drinks are good value others over priced. The staff are friendly enough and welcoming. Seating in the place is just terrible, packed in too tight you will be rubbing shoulders with others or find people brushing past a lot.
Taking it down a star... was here Saturday with friends, took ages to get service, error in the order, and getting the bill took a life time. It was not busy so no real excuse for it. The waiter was pleasant enough but really the service was terrible.
Great take out food. Staff always friendly. Food made quick and good quality. Best place if you're eating late in soho.
Balans is indeed The Mothership.
As a working musician, I often wind up here when everywhere else is shut. Food is excellent. Staff are welcoming & can't do enough for me. They go the extra mile. Prices are sane. Nothing not to like. The coolest place at 04:00.
Balans is a place of wonder. Even while the rain pours on the London streets of soho the warm magical atmosphere takes you far away. The food of course is nothing to turn your nose up either, always fresh and a charming cocktail never hurt anyone.
I'm eyes it's a must go.
